Book: Captive Prince (German Edition)
Author: C. S. Pacat
Pages: 289
Published: July 2015
Publisher: Heyne

Synopsis:
Damen, the crown prince of Akielos, loses the throne because of a conspirancy of his half-brother. He gets sent to Vere, the neighbouring country, as a slave for the prince, Laurent. Laurent is everything what Damen hates, and so he plans to flee. But soon he discovers that the only way for him to survive and to prevent a war between his own country and Vere, is to stay with Laurent.

My thoughts:
I liked: The story of this book is really good. I love books with nobility scheming and plotting against each other, and Captive Prince is really full of it. The problems and complexity of politics and foreign affairs are brilliantly combined with the more personal thoughts of the main character, Damen. I also really enjoyed how I felt about the characters because I had changing feelings towards everyone. The darker and lighter sides of both the characters and their surroundings were well written. The handling of sexualty was also good, since every sexual preference was tolerated.

I didn’t like: How the sex was handled sometimes bothered me. I don’t want to spoil anything, but there is sexual assault and I kind of thought it was unnecessary and didn’t really bring the story forwards.
