Goodreads Synopsis:

One starry night, Peter Pan and Tinker Bell lead the three Darling children over the rooftops of London and away to Neverland – the island where lost boys play, mermaids splash and fairies make mischief. But a villainous-looking gang of pirates lurk in the docks, led by the terrifying Captain James Hook. Magic and excitement are in the air, but if Captain Hook has his way, before long, someone will be walking the plank and swimming with the crocodiles…

My review:

I loved Peter Pan as a child. I’ve never read it until now, but I watched all the films there were and Peter might have been my first crush. I actually wasn’t even planning on reading it, but I was in the bookshop and saw this cover and fell in love. It is so utterly gorgeous!
But I didn’t like the book as much as I thought I would. I didn’t start reading with high expectations or anything, but to be honest, I was very much annoyed with all of the characters, especially with Peter and Wendy, who are the main characters. To be honest, maybe Peter Pan is not the book for me because it’s all about children and staying young and I really, really am not good with children. But Peter was so annoying and arrogant all the time, why does everyone like him so much? I couldn’t identify with any of the characters and so I couldn’t really get into the story, I felt like an outsider just watching in. And the character I probably like the most is Captain Hook.
The plot itself is quite good and cute though, a tale of childhood, growing up and a lot of adventure.
It pains me to not have enjoyed the book as much as I wanted to, but I guess it’s just not my type of book.
