A – Z book tag

23/01/2018

hello hello,

I always love a good tag. And I saw this one on Abbie’s blog boneseasonofglass, so of course I wanted to do this as well 🙂 Let’s head right into it.

Author you’ve read the most books from

dsc_0051_2

Definitely Rick Riordan. I think except for thecond Trials of Apollo book, I’ve read all of them. And loving all of them. Rick Riordan has been one of my all time favourite authors since I first read Percy Jackson e swhen I was like 12 or something.

Best sequel

All hail Queen Leigh Bardugo and Crooked Kingdom. I love this book so much. And while I also enjoyed Six of Crows immensely, Crooked Kingdom was even better.

Currently reading

Red Rising by Pierce Brown. I’m only on page 100 so I can’t say that much about it or where it’s going. But I can say that I really like it and cried once already…

Drink of choice

It really depends on the season. Though I drink tea all year round. But during the hotter months I do enjoy a lemonade from time to time. Or a milkshake. I just LOVE milkshakes.

E-reader or physical

Physical. I don’t even have an e-reader. For e-books I usually use my laptop or phone, but that’s only like twice a year and for novellas. I just love my physical copies.

Fictional character you wouldn’t have dated in high school

umm… there are actually quite a lot of characters I wouldn’t have dated. But when I think of protagonists dating in hish school, I’d say that I would not have dated Edward Cullen. I won’t say I wasn’t in a Twilight phase, because I definitely was, but I never rooted for Edward. Or Jacob, for that matter. Just no, get both of them the hell away from me.

Glad you gave this book a chance

Master and Commander by Patrick O’Brian. My boyfriend told me to read it for ages and I was never really in the mood for historical fiction about the Royal Navy. But oh dear, it’s SO good! I love this series and its characters so, so much. I really wish I had given in and read it sooner.

Hidden gem book

I think I talk about it from time to time, especially on social media, but HOUR OF THE BEES BY LINDSAY EAGAR. It wasn’t at all what I expected, it was so good! And way deeper than I thought. I cried. A lot.

Important moment in reading life

The most important one probably happened when I was still smol and couldn’t even read myself. Because thanks to my parents, I noticed at a very young age how wonderful books were. I loved the stories they read to me and told me of, I loved the pictures in my dad’s bird encyclopedia more than anything. And as soon as I was able to read, I went to the library with my mum twice a month and got all the books I could carry. So yeah, my parents igniting my love for books and reading was probably the most important moment.

Just finished

Well, not just, but last week, I finished The Song Rising by Samantha Shannon. and I loooooved it. The whole series so far. So. damn. good.

Kind of books you won’t read

I’m really no fan of crime, thrillers and anything horror. I actually like dark and bloody stories, as long as they are fantasy. But yeah, I pick up a thriller once a year and that is enough.

Longest book you’ve read

I’m not sure which on is longer: Order of the Phoenix or The Wise Man’s fear? Probably the latter. Or was it a book by Diana Gabaldon ???? I do not know.

Major book hangover

Again. The Song Rising. Even though I started another book, I can’t forget how brilliant I found TSR to be. I loved every single page, every drama happening. And I can’t get myself away from it.

Number of book cases you own

5 where I live plus 3 more at home. And very soon I’ll own two more. Because apparently eight cases are not enough for all of my books.

One book you’ve read multiple times

The entire Harry Potter series. I need to re-read at least one book every year. I think I’ve reread Philosopher’s Stone the most since it is my favourite.

Preferred place to read

Either my chair for everything or my boyfriend’s bed. And near the little stream outside my house in summer. Though I enjoy reading everywhere. I also really love reading on the train.

Quote that inspires you

You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me.” – C.S. Lewis

Reading regret

Do I really regret anything when it comes to terms of reading? Except for not reading some books sooner, I don’t think I do.

Series you started and need to finish

Too. Many. Of. Them. But what I started reading aaaaaages ago is the Snow like Ashes series by Sara Raasch. I think I read the first book 3 years ago and even though I bought the other two over a year ago, I still haven’t picked them up. Why.

Three of your all time favourites

Since it says “three of”, I can just pick some of that endless list of favourite books. And I will not go with Harry Potter this time because I’d always pick Harry Potter for everything. A book that I have loved from page one to forever, is Vicious by V. E. Schwab, because damn, that is some good superhero/antihero shit. Second is Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo. Not because it’s her best or anything, but it’s the one that made me fall in love with the Grishaverse and with the Darkling especially… For the third I’m going with The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien, the book that introduced me to Tolkien and his fantastic world of wonder and magic.

Unapologetic fangirl

Harry Potter Harry Potter Harry Potter. I’ve always been and surely always will be a huge nerd for all things Harry Potter. End of story.

Very excited for this release

I am very excited for a lot of releases. You can have a look at them here.

Worst bookish habit

buying too many books. Some books sit on my shelves for 3+ years before I touch them again. And I know it is the worst but I cannot stop.

X marks the spot: start at the top left and pick the 27th book

Your latest book purchase

Two poetry collections, Soft in the Middle by Shelby Eileen and Soft Thorns by Bridgett Devoue.

Zzz-snarer book (book that kept you up way too late)

it’s been a while since I stayed awake late at all, but it was probably Gemina by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff.

That’s it from me 🙂 If you feel like doing this, just do it 🙂 It’s quite fun.
