HELLO HELLO!
I asked on several social media if people would be interesting in travelling the world in a literary way. The answer was most definitely yes, so it is happening: I’m hosting a reading challenge which takes place for a full hundred days!
When does the challenge start, when will it end?
What is the reading challenge about?
Well, basically its core point is to read books set in different countries. You can basically visit every country on the planet (no fictional worlds& countries). Of course the books can have fantastical elements, they can be urban fantasy or dystopian or historical or whatever, as long as they are set on this planet. They can be non-fiction, they can be YA, they can be children’s books. Literally everything. Just get to know other cultures and discover books you’d probably wouldn’t even hear about. Also for finding new friends and to have a good time.
In the end, the person who has visited the most countries will get a little package from me. This will be a box including items (and maybe a book, who knows?) all about travelling and reading. If there is more than one winner, I’ll make more boxes, though they will get smaller.
There will also be discussion rounds about the books, who different books portray the same country, how you liked them, you can write reviews, post photos, etc etc.
Who can participate?
Everyone! You don’t have a blog? Join via Twitter or Instagram or Tumblr or basically anything. You can let me know on my social media or via e-mail or just leave a comment on this post. Or send me an owl or a dove or a raven, whatever your favourite form of non-verbal communication is. You can participate no matter what.
What do I have to do to participate?
Tell me that you want to be a part of the challenge. Plus, most importantly: tell me 1-3 books set in your country. Bonus points, if they are written by authors from your country, but that is not a necessity. I need this, so I can make a big list of all the countries and the books, so other participants have a general idea what books they could read. Of course, you don’t have to read books from that list. If you’re from a country a lot of books are set in (USA and England for example), you can also recommend books from other countries if you’ve read and liked them. The books you recommend should be in English (if possible), but of course you can read them in any language you want to!
And yeah, apart from that… read. Read physical books or ebooks or comics. Share your thoughts (if you want to).
And, let me know how many books you’ve read. You can do a blog post or insta post or goodreads shelf with all the books you’ve read + send me the link. As long as you update it, I’ll be updated too and can pick the winner in the end! Or, you’ll do a wrap-up at the end of the challenge. I’ll check every participant’s blogs/instas/whatever you join with after the challenge has ended, so I really don’t miss a post. I’ll put all the ways to contact me down below.

yes, there will be 3 of them! and it’s important to use them in your posts, so I can see them.
Kat, why are you making a post about this in May, when the challenge starts is July?
So as many people as possible see this and decide to participate and send them recommendations in. If you don’t want to participate, but recommend books anyways, please don’t hesitate! Send them to me, comment under this post, just let me know.
